FAQ for Whitewater Rafting

When is the best time to go Whitewater Rafting in Maine?

Booking your rafting trip for early May offers adventures with fast rapids and big water.  We start our rafting season the last weekend in April when the spring runoff begins to pump through the dam.

During the summer there is a consistent CFS  (Cubic Feet Per Second – how we measure whitewater) water release on the Penobscot River that is controlled through Ripogenus Dam & McKay Station, providing excellent Class II-V Rapids.

If you’re looking to experience Maine’s beautiful fall foliage, we recommend rafting with us in mid/late September and October.
